Tria Wash West Celebrates Fifth Anniversary, July 24

Tria Wash West Celebrates Fifth Anniversary, July 24

This Tuesday is the fifth anniversary for Tria Wash West, and the wine-beer-cheese cafe is celebrating. There will be a very special “five for five” happy hour to commemorate the occasion, all evening long. Wood is the traditional gift for a five-year stint, and it happens to go wonderfully with all things fermented, so look for that theme weaving through the deals.

During the party, a fiver will bring a glass of Rioja Blanco "Vina Gravonia" (usually $14) or Etna Rosso Calabretta '01 (down from $15), a ball of River's Edge Up in Smoke cheese (regularly $8) or draft pours of Loverbeer Madamin (Italy, 5.7% ABV; usually $10) and Lost Abbey Angel's Share Bourbon Barrel-Aged (California, 12.5% ABV; regularly $8.50). The great discounts are fitting for the popular cafe, which has been run by general manager Chris Lillis since day one.

Tria first popped up in Rittenhouse Square in April of 2004, and after waiting until they were sure they could handle another location, Myerow and partner Michael McCaulley pounced upon the 12th and Spruce corner. Formerly a laundromat, they installed wood floors and a bar, set up floor-to-ceiling windows and some of the best outdoor seating in the city (with handy heat lamps for cooler weather), and launched in 2007.

They’ve since expanded to a third spot, Tria Wine Room in West Philly, which sports a large outdoor deck. “Having multiple locations is challenging,” Myerow tells us, “but It has allowed us to have a bit more clout when it comes to getting cool products. It's exciting to be in different neighborhoods with different vibes and clienteles. We would be bored with one location. With three, we're never bored.”

So, can we expect more Trias in our future? That’s the plan. “We do hope to add more locations in the future — I think we'll start looking seriously at new spots towards the end of the year.” We’ll be looking forward to hearing more, and in the meantime, come out on July 24 t say happy fifth birthday, Tria Wash West.
