Square 1682 Offers 12 Nights of Cocktails for School Art Programs

Square 1682 in Rittenhouse has a spacious, comfortable lounge and a large bar, which has always produced a variety of interesting cocktails. Recently the drinks at the Hotel Palomar establishment got an upgrade, when Chauncy Scates joined as lead mixologist — she has previously shaken drinks at The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co., Stateside and several other of Philly’s better bars.

For the holidays, Scates developed a new menu of a dozen cocktails, offered on the 12 nights leading up to Christmas. For each of these cocktails sold, Square 1682 will donate $1 to Fresh Artists, a Philadelphia nonprofit that raises money for underfunded school art programs and works toward making art accessible to everyone.

Each of the new drinks has a fun, seasonal name, but each recipe was also carefully considered, so these concoctions should please both the casual drinker and the cocktail aficionado. For example, Crumpet the Elf Nog, which takes nog to the next level with the addition of butterscotch liqueur and is served chilled, in a martini glass. Or the Mean Girls Christmas, which matches vodka with peppermint liqueur and cream for a frosty, potent sip.

Check out the full menu below, which runs from December 12–24 and finishes with the Christmas Eve classic of a Tom and Jerry.
