Philly Barskee League: Indoor Fun for Everyone
What’s more fun than sitting at a bar with nothing to do? Rolling balls up a hill for points — AKA skeeball! And what’s more fun than playing random skeeball games? Playing in fierce-but-friendly competition against other teams, of course. The Philly Barskee League starts its winter season this month, and new members are welcome.
Run by United Social Sports, the Philly Barksee League is bringing the trend to our city. League nights take place Wednesdays and Thursdays at Buffalo Billiards in Old City, and feature beer and food specials during games, which run from 7–9:30 PM.
One of the best things about skeeball is anyone can play — no athletic prowess required. To participate, sign up online here. The cost is $45 per person for the season (depending on when you sign up), and teams can have between 5–12 people on them. Your entry fee includes all the games for the whole season, plus a unique Philly Barskee shirt for your team.
Each team plays at least two matches per night, and up to 20 teams are scheduled for each evening, so you’re sure to meet people and possibly even make new lifelong friends (...or rivals, if you beat them too often). At the end of the season, there’s a free party with lots of beer, and the league champions are awarded a three-liter glass boot as a trophy.
Easy indoor fun with easy access to a bar? Sounds like a winter winner.
