Beer for Lovers: Drink Philly Skillshare Class, February 7
These days — especially in the beer mecca of Philadelphia — if you really want to wow your date, you’ll skip a pricey bottle of wine and go for a seriously geeky brew instead. Beer can appeal to all palates, and in the Beer for Lovers Skillshare class on Thursday, February 7, we’ll explore some of the more refined styles suds can take. “Brewfessor” Steve Wilfong will also provide you with all the knowledge you need to make a smart impression.
We’ll start with a toast of Belgian Gueuze lambic, the Champagne of beer. Next, we'll step into France to challenge our palates with a refreshing Bière de Garde, and then take a turn to the rich malts of an English-style barleywine. We’ll head back to Belgium to sample the complexities of a Trappist quadrupel, and then finally savor the depth of a bourbon-barrel-aged selection.
After the 7–8:30 PM session, you’ll be equipped with the vocabulary and tasting notes to order one of these on your next dinner out. Or, make a date night of the class itself — it’s just $35 per person, including all the beer as well as light snacks to cleanse the palate between sips. It’s a perfect early Valentine’s Day celebration. The class takes place at our World Headquarters at 239 Chestnut Street in Old City. Sign up here, we’re looking forward to sharing the love.
