Philly Beer Week Wants to Send You to Belgium to Brew 2014's Belgo Collaboration

Philly Beer Week Wants to Send You to Belgium to Brew 2014's Belgo Collaboration

Philly Beer Week’s Opening Tap festivities are still more than six months away, but the run-up to the ten-plus days of suds-soaked celebrations will get underway on Tuesday, December 10.

That’s when PBW reps and participating brewers will gather at Center City’s Field House to draw winners for the fest’s annual Win a Trip to Belgium Raffle.

For the uninitiated, this game of chance randomly picks one local brewer and one local drinker to travel to Belgium to craft PBW’s Belgo-American Collaboration, which over the years has become one of the most sought after brews featured during the big beer blowout.

This year’s collaboration will be brewed in cooperation with Brouwerij Dilewyns and imported by Vanberg & DeWulf, who will provide the winner’s and brewer’s airline tickets and hotel rooms for the whirlwind expedition.

All you have to do to enter the contest is show up at 7 PM, pick the brewer you’d most like to spend a week in Belgium with, and wait until 8 PM to see if your name gets drawn.

Raffle tickets cost $5 a piece, or five for $20. This year they are also available ahead of the drawing through the PBW website.

Just one lucky beer nerd gets to go to Belgium, but the evening will have tons of other prizes on tap for runners-up, including baskets of cheer, gift certificates from local bars and restaurants, and event tickets.

The brewers in the running include:

 Scott Morrison of Barren Hill

Jason Kohser of Boxcar

Justin Low of Dock Street

Tim Hawn of Dogfish Head

Mark Braunwarth of Evil Genius

Josh Bushey of Fegley’s Brew Works
