Ready, Set, Brew for The Philadelphia Mash Bash Homebrew Competition, June 1
Do you eat, sleep, and breathe beer? Do you love the smell of grains in the morning? If you brew your own beer, or just support the homebrew movement, this Beer Week event is for you.
Susquehanna Brewing Company is hosting the first ever Mash Bash on June 1, at Underground Arts. The Mash Bash takes a homebrew competition, beer-centric seminars and activities, and live music and rolls everything into one fantastic day.
The competition is American Homebrewer’s Association (AHA) certified and will be capped around 250 entries. The cost per entry is $10 which covers AHA fees, event admission, an event “Passport”, and one beverage voucher. To register your homebrews and for more competition details head over here.
The event kicks off at 1 PM on Sunday, June 1, with a Brewers Roundtable. From 2 to 3 PM you can catch a lecture on “Chemistry of Beer” by Roger Barth PHD, followed by the Homebrew Awards Ceremony, featuring category winners as well as a “Best of Show”. After the awards, local beer companies and breweries will have interactive, beer-centric activities ready to expand your brewing and beer knowledge. And if that wasn’t enough, there will be guest bartenders and live music to take you into the evening. Tickets for non-competitors is $5 if purchased before the event, or $10 the day of.
