Check Out What City Tap House Logan Square Will Look Like This Fall
After nearly a decade in operation, the days are numbered for Logan Square’s Public House. It’s going dark in July, and it’s never coming back. But don’t let its passing bum you out too much. Following an extensive makeover this summer, it will reopen in the fall as City Tap House, a second Philadelphia location of the Public House Investments team’s popular, 60-tap spot in University City.
Like the original, which opened in 2010, the Logan Square successor’s main focus will be beer. Though equipped only with 40 taps and two cask engines, Beer Steward Andy Farrell plans to keep a deep stock of craft and hard-to-find international bottled selections in a custom, temperature-controlled display behind the bar.
Renovations will dude-up the space in reclaimed lumber, steel and copper accents to mimic the rustic, urban ski lodge vibe found at the University City original. The bar will have 44 seats, while the restaurant will have 170 more. There’s also plans for a 40-seat private section. Chefs from the company’s other properties, City Tap House (Chad Vetter) and Pennsylvania 6 (Marc Plessis) will constantly tweak the menus.
