Here's How You Can Take Part in the Boozy Candy Craze

by Sonie Guseh on Sep 30, 2016 in Liquor
If your sweet tooth is craving some tasty treats, especially with Halloween just a stone’s throw away—there are some fun ways to get your sugar and booze fix while out on the town or enjoying a night in. Liquor-infused candies are on the rise (just check out all the creative results that come from a Google search of “boozy candy”) and these sweets make the perfect party treat.

Here are some delectable ideas to get you started:

This 5-ingredient recipe from Sugar and Cloth calls for a mix of clear rum and tequila, but you can use your liquor of choice.

Sugarfina, an adult candy store, offers a dainty box of gummy bears infused with Whispering Angel Rosé for $8.50. The store also features Champagne-infused gummies  and tons of other boozy treats. You can order their sweets online or visit one of their stores located across the country.

If you prefer to experience your liquor-infused candies while out, and happen to be in NYC the rooftop bar at the Monarch Lounge in Midtown Manhattan is currently offering Sugar Rush specials, a sweet daily  menu of:

Tipsy Teddy Bears: gummy bears soaked in bubbly
Rummy Worms: gummy worms soaked in rum and paired with a Mojito
Fish out of Water: Vodka-soaked Swedish Fish in blue Jell-O shots

Or try making your own with the recipe ideas below, courtesy of Monarch:

Tipsy Teddy Bears and Rummy Worms

Ingredients:
Candy: gummy bears, gummy worms, or gummy candy of choice
Champagne or Sangria (or alcohol of your choice)
Instructions:
Add each type of candy (quantity as desired) to bowls, respectively: gummy bears, gummy worms, or candy of your choice
Cover with your spirit of choice until all candies are completely covered (Champagne, Sangria, etc.)
Let sit overnight or 6 to 8 hours for best results
Drain any excess liquid following soaking
Enjoy candies separately or in a summer drink, like Champagne, a Mojito, or Sangria

Fish out of Water

Ingredients:
Swedish Fish
Vodka (or other spirit of your choice)
Blue gelatin
Instructions:
Place Swedish Fish in a bowl
Cover with your spirit of choice (Monarch uses vodka) until all candies are completely covered
Let sit overnight or 6 to 8 hours for best results
Drain any excess liquid following soaking
Prepare blue gelatin 4 to 6 hours prior to consumption in shot glasses/cups
Once fully gelled, top with Swedish fish that have been soaked in vodka and serve
