This Saturday, September 24, the first-ever East Coast version of Chicago punk music extravaganza Red Bull Riot Fest takes place at the Festival Pier on the Delaware. From noon–11 PM, bands like the Descendants, Dead Milkmen, X, Plow United and a ton more will be jamming by the river to a sell-out crowd. Tickets are $34.50 each (plus Ticketmaster fees), or spring for the $100 VIP deal, which includes a commemorative poster and four drink vouchers.
If you’re in the mood for a softer sort of rock, check out Philadelphia’s own Hoots and Hellmouth, playing Saturday evening at 7 PM at the Theater of Living Arts on South Street. Tix to the TLA gig are just $14 (or $10.50 if you buy a four-pack), and will give you access to the soulful string-tinged sound of this alternative group.
