Philly Beer Week: Fifth Annual International Great Beer Expo, June 1
The International Great Beer Expo is back for its fifth year in Philadelphia, with over 200 beers from more than 75 breweries in 25 different countries. The fest takes place in South Phily at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and when you go you’re sure to be caught in one of numerous cheers that roll through the crowds — there’s just no way you can resist raising your glass.
Tickets to the Saturday, June 1, event are $46 in advance (here). They’ll be $60 at the door, if they aren’t sold out, so it behooves you to snag yours now. That brings you all you care to drink of the beers, poured in 2-oz. tastes into your souvenir glass. Beers on offer hail from as close as Philly’s back yard to as far as Peru, New Zealand and Japan, with plenty from Europe also available.
You’ll also find plenty of nibbles to keep you pert throughout the 1:30–-5 PM session, including pretzel necklaces and a roster of Philly food trucks. Look for The Cow and the Curd, Dapper Dog, Pitruco Pizza, Say Cheese, Lil Dan’s, Taco Mondo and SumPig to make your food experience almost as varied as the drink.
VIP admission runs $75 in advance, and scores you an hour early entrance plus access to a special selection of VIP exclusive beers — expect specialties like Vault Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout and Full Pint Rye Rebellion.
