Philadelphia's Best Boozy Brunches for Moms on Mothers Day

Treat Yo Momma To Brunch
Philadelphia's Best Boozy Brunches for Moms on Mothers Day

Long gone are the days of wearing wide-grinned pride over gifted macaroni necklaces and stick figure drawings. The time has come for you to treat Mom to the luxury equivalent of a thousand bottom powderings and a hundred booboos kissed. Maybe Mom joined your life a little later through marriage, or is an aunt, or a loving friend who helped do the job. Of course, Mom may be a he. And don’t we know Dads who fill both roles?

Thank the Moms in your life for doing the hardest work on earth without pay, by taking them out and getting them day drunk. Let’s face it. Raising us was no walk in the park. If you’re a parent, you know that’s for damned sure.

If Mom’s abstaining, or is presently a mom in the making, we also included booze-free options, and plenty of deliciousness in this round-up. There’s definitely something for every mom, but most importantly, this time, Mom won’t have to clean-up after you. Now get cracking on those reservations!

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse: The “Prime Pair” is what’s for brunch for steak loving moms. It includes an 8 oz Filet Mignon with choice of Crab Cakes, Lemon Garlic Scallops or BBQ-Spiced Shrimp ($49). Choose your beverage pairings from the regular drink menu. Brunch starts at 11 AM.

Square 1682: You’ll be pouring mom into the car after doing the booziest brunch in the city. “Punch Brunch” is a package for four. It includes four entrees, unlimited coffee, and mom can choose an expertly mixed punch bowl for the table, such as Sister Boom Boom Punch, Penny Arcade Punch and other fun ones ($100). Bring your siblings to help split the bill.

Perch Pub: It could be Mom's lucky day at Perch Pub. Every mom dining at Perch Pub on Sunday for brunch or dinner will recieve a lottery ticket with their meal. You never know, it could be worth millions.

Varalli: Mother's eat free up to $25 for dinner on May 11 or 12, with minimum purchase of $90 before tax & gratuity. Must print out this certificate to get the deal.

Red Owl Tavern: On the “lighter side” of brunch, Mom (and you too) can choose from an assortment of fresh fruit purees to be swirled into a glass of bubbly at the Bellini Bar, unlimited during brunch hours ($18). If mom has a real appetite, head to Chef Chicas' bountiful brunch buffet in Hotel Monaco's ballroom ($50 pp).

Barren Hill Tavern and Brewery: Beer your mom at brunch! Try a locally brewed flight of six 5 oz crafts ($12-$15, depending on choices). Before mom stands-up, order from Chef Paul Trowbridge’s new brunch menu, where you’ll find goodies like Asparagus-Prosciutto Omelette, Dutch Caramelized Apple Pancake and Crab Cake Benedict.

London Grill: Don’t schedule anything but a food coma for after the Make-Your-Own Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar, and Chef Michael McNally’s brunch. His three-course prix fixe menu features Grapefruit Brulee with kiwi sorbet, New Potato and Fava Bean Soup topped with onion rings, French Toast Bread Pudding with bacon or sausage, Duck Confit Hash with red bliss potatoes, red peppers, onions with sunny side-up eggs and Lemon-Lavender Pound Cake. Served 10 AM - 3 PM. ($25 Per adult person. Kids are $15 each.)

City Tap House: For the moms who don’t want to have to choose, this brunch buffet features both an omelette station and a carving station ($25), and access to the most taps in the city. All Moms in the house will receive a special treat. Served 11 AM - 3 PM.

Ocean Prime:
If it’s not on Executive Chef Sonny Pache’s special brunch menu, Mom’s not going to want it. Expect classics like quiche with spinach, swiss, provolone and parmesan; and blueberry french toast with cream cheese, powdered sugar, warm maple syrup and smoked bacon. Pache also covers both ends of the scale from arugula salad and fresh fruit, to braised short rib with marble potatoes, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, poached eggs and cabernet jus. Of course there’d be seafood. Look for crab and eggs with toasted English muffin, jumbo lump crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise, fingerling potatoes and fresh fruit; and blackened salmon salad with strawberries, grapes, cantaloupe, goat cheese, field greens, basil poppyseed dressing and candied walnuts. The dinner menu will also be available. 11 AM - 3 PM.

Pennsylvania 6: For the moms who channel Goldilocks whenever it’s time to order, this brunch menu isn’t too big or too small. It’s just right, with three entrees and three beverages. To eat: Smoked Salmon Hash with poached eggs, asparagus, dill and lemon mousseline ($14); Vidalia Onion and Mushroom Quiche with goat cheese, herbs and green salad ($12); Strawberry Rhubarb Crêpe with French vanilla crème and pistachio crumble ($12). To drink: The “Sweet Flamingo” made of Sparkling brut, watermelon and basil ($10); The “Bloody Mary” mixed with jumbo shrimp, celery, horseradish and chipotle ($13) and a non-alcoholic Berry Lemonade with strawberry, blueberry and fresh lemon ($4).

Earth - Bread + Brewery: Special boozy Mother's Day brunch from noon to 4 PM includes one free mimosa or poinsettia (cranberry juice and champagne) for each and every mom. Additional details and prices are TBA. Give them a call to learn more.

Rex 1516: Has Mom ever had a Hibiscus Mimosa? For $8 you can make sure you never have to worry about being asked that again. This flowery twist on a classic cocktail will compliment any of the brunch menu favorites, like Fried Chicken and Waffles and Eggs Benedict. Savor your meal and time with Mom.
