Pending Sale Has Resurrection Ale House's Days Numbered
Looks like it’s the end of the line for Resurrection Ale House. The Greys Ferry Avenue bar launched by Memphis Taproom owners Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft back in 2005, is under agreement of sale.
Maida shocked Philly’s drinking population yesterday with an email announcing the forthcoming sale of the popular bar to a pair of unnamed buyers. That transfer is expected to happen sometime around September 21. Once complete, Resurrection Ale House as we all know and love it, will cease to exist. The new owners are expected to change the name, and hopefully not too much else. But there's no word yet on what other changes can be expected.
As for what’s next for Maida and Hartranft, they’re not saying much. But Maida drops a few hints about “working on a few things that are exciting” in an interview with Zagat.
In the meantime, Resurrection Ale House has a host of daily beer events booked for the weeks leading up to its final day, including a Goose Island Migration Week tap takeover on Tuesday, August 5, and a final "Fifth Anniversary/Closing Night" beer bash in September.
