If you haven’t been to the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest yet, make it a priority this weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be filled with beer tasting*, homebrew demonstrations, beer-themed quizzo, brewer talks, music and more for Winterfest Brewfest. And the best part is that it’s all free!

Winterfest Brewfest kicks off Friday, January 23, at 5 PM with beer tastings by Slyfox and Weyerbacher. Sample Slyfox’s Christmas Ale and Pikeland Pils, and try Weyerbacher’s Holiday Cheer and Merry Monks. Brian O’Reilly of Slyfox will also be hanging out from 5–7 PM to talk about this history of brewing lagers in Pennsylvania and the new history of craft beer in the Philadelphia region. From 8–10 PM, strap on your thinking cap for Beer Quizzo hosted by Pat Gallen of 97.5 The Fanatic. Space is limited for this, so get your teams ready now. Quizzo prizes include ice skating tickets, drink tickets, Winterfest swag and you could even win a special Spruce Street Harbor Park party. After you and your team show off your beer knowledge, dance the night away with the help of a special, live DJ.

On Saturday, January 24, beer tastings run from 12–4 PM with Yuengling and Twin Lakes, and again from 4–8 PM with Evil Genius and Cape May Brewing. Look for Bock, Porter and Lager by Yuengling and Greenville Pale and Winterthur Wheat by Twin Lakes. Then be sure to catch Naughty or Nice, Stacy's Mom and Purple Monkey Dishwasher by Evil Genius and Coastal Evacuation and King Porter Stomp by Cape May Brewing. Following the beer tastings, Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five, a Philly-based swing band, will perform.

And finally, on Sunday, January 25, enjoy beer sampling from Hauser Estates and Dock Street, as well as a homebrewing demonstration by George Hummel of Home Sweet Homebrew. Sunday’s fun begins at 1 PM. Beer samplings include Jacks Cider and Jacks Fireside from Hauser Estates and Man Full of Trouble and Rye IPA from Dock Street.

In addition to the great tastings, talks and demos happening all weekend, beer-centric movies and TV shows will be playing throughout the weekend to really add the icing to the cake. Did we mention this is all free? If you need us, you’ll know where to find us this weekend.
