Where to Take Dad for a Drink This Father's Day

Where to Take Dad for a Drink This Father's Day

Father’s Day will be here sooner than you think. It’s coming up on Sunday, June 21. So if you haven’t lined something up for your Pop yet, the clock is ticking. But before you go and get all freaked out, check out some of our awesome gift suggestions, and then consider some of these awesome drinking and eating options that are bound to make your Dad’s day.

Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery
For a great craft beer option, consider Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery. The brewpub sits outside Philly in the General Lafayette Inn building, so you’ll get bonus points if Pops is a history buff. The Lafayette Hill brewery and eatery boasts 30 craft taps, a curated list of cans and bottles, and a wine list, accompanying the menu crafted by veteran Chef Paul Trowbridge. For Father’s Day, Barren Hill will be offering complimentary 10.5 oz pours of house brews Blue Mountain Pilsner, Justa Porter, ‘ello English Bitter, Springtime Wheat and IDK IPA to all dining dads. If you’re visiting for brunch, dad can also opt for a mimosa or house bloody mary. Still not satisfied? At dinner, dad can enjoy house wines instead of house brews. (646 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill; 484-344-5438)

Brauhaus Schmitz
Brauhaus Schmitz is kickin’ it old school for your old man this Father’s Day, dressing up in their traditional dirndl outfits. In addition, all day on Father’s Day, the restaurant and bar is pouring complimentary DinkelAcker Pils for all Papas. (718 South St.; 267-909-8814)

If your Dad digs craft beers, he’s going to love City Tap House and its 60-tap draft list. For Father’s Day, Chef Chad Vetter is serving up a special menu of Dad-friendly fare, and your old man’s first brew is on City Tap House’s resident beer guru, Andy Farrell. (3925 Walnut St.; 215-662-0105)

If Dad would prefer something a little more Caribbean-inspired, consider Cuba Libre. They are offering complimentary housemade mojitos for every father with their meal. Food options include Guava Barbecue Ribs glazed with guava barbecue sauce and served with jicama-sambal slaw; Black Angus Sirloin Steak served with caramelized shallots, steamed kale, yucca fries, tamarindo ketchup and Cuba Libre’s signature steak sauce; and Plato Gaucho Mixed Grill, adobo-rubbed all-natural Black Angus sirloin steak, chimichurri skirt steak, jumbo shrimp, herb-marinated chicken breasts and Spanish artisan chorizo sausage, served with red hot onion rings and a trio of sauces (for a minimum of two people). Prices range from $13–$34. Reservations are being accepted for 4 PM and later. (10 S 2nd St.; 215-627-0666)

With 10 Iron Hill locations, the brewery has a wide variety of events going on. The Maple Shade and Phoenixville locations are hosting Father Appreciation Beer Brunches, starting at Noon and 11 AM, respectively. Reservations are required and cost $45–$50. Both locations will be pairing 4 unique courses with 4 different, special brews. Other locations are rolling out the red carpet for Dads on Sunday with a special Father’s Day Steak Menu. Options include a Bacon-Wrapped Filet Mignon and a Char-Grilled Flat Iron Steak. In addition to the meats, locations will be offering unique, as of yet undisclosed brunch menus, curated by their individual chefs. (Multiple Locations)

For a fancier affair, Lacroix is hosting a special Father’s Day Brunch from 11 AM–2:30 PM. They boast “a sumptuous spread of appetizers, raw bar specialties, a chef's table hot buffet and more.” They add “An always-decadent dessert service rounds out the offerings.” If you plan on treating Dad to such a spread, be advised that the event will run you a flat rate of $75 per person, and reservations are required. Lacroix and Bar 210 will also be raffling off a Dad’s Day gift package including a $50 gift card to fine threads purveyors Boyd’s, an item from The Rittenhouse Hotel’s in-house spa, and a small bottle of alcohol. (210 W Rittenhouse Sq.; 215-790-2533)

Old City’s go-to for really awesome Italian food and a Guinness World Record winning wine selection is departing from its regularly scheduled programming and offering Draughts For Dads from 5–9 PM. Bring your father in for dinner and a cold one, and his first one is free. (14 N Front St.; 215-922-7800)

Perch Pub
Perch Pub is is offering two opportunities to take your Dad out for a bite and beer. For Father’s Day, the pub is serving its revamped brunch menu from11:30 AM–3 PM, and dinner from 4 PM until closing. The brunch menu boasts such tasty items as a Roasted Veggie Omelet, Norwegian Benedict, and Nachos Burrachos, while dinner dishes include Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon and Grilled Angus Meatloaf.
