Perch Pub to Close; Going Out With a Bang With All Beer Must Go Specials, March 27
While many restaurants have come and go in Philly, we’re particularly sad to bid farewell to Perch Pub. The building that is home to Perch was sold last year, and the new owners have plans to erect a hotel on the property. The bar will have its final day of service on Sunday, March 27.
In the late 80’s before it was the Perch Pub that many have come to love, Joe Varalli originally opened Upstares at Varalli. The Northern Italian restaurant closed and was remodeled in 2010, and Perch Pub made its debut.
“It has been an exciting and fulfilling 28 years here on the corner of Broad and Locust Streets. I will truly miss the view from my Perch,” said Joe Varalli in a closing message to customers. Varalli also mentioned that he will continue to search for a new location for the beloved bar.
We’ll miss everything from tap takeovers to the nachos to the annual beer bottle Christmas tree, and we wish Varalli and the dedicated Perch Pub staff nothing but the best.
If you want to bid farewell to Varalli and crew, stop by on Sunday, March 27, to help kick the kegs. Everything must go. From 7 PM to close, all craft drafts will be half-price, Sycamore Lane Cabernet and Chardonnay will be $5, and all well drinks will also be $5. Wish your server "Bon Voyage!" and all food items will be half-price. Raise one final glass to the Perch.
