PIFA Is Taking Over Broad Street With a Block Party on April 23
On April 23, PIFA, the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts, is closing down six blocks of Broad Street for Philadelphia’s biggest block party of the season. The all-day festival will feature live performances, carnival rides, a zip line, food trucks, and even a functioning 25-foot waterfall that will be installed on the street for the day.
Some of the food vendors include the Cow and the Curd, Scratch Biscuits, and Hai Street Kitchen. Garces Events will be supplying the booze (with a full beer garden set up on Spruce Street) as well as some classic Garces grub for sale outside the Kimmel Center. Enjoy your food and drink under trees, on grassy patches, or near one of the water fountains set up on Broad Street.
Obviously, performance art will be at the forefront of this festival, which will feature dozens of live performances throughout the day. Standouts include Lady Pneumatica (a huge 40-foot inflatable, musical sculpture) and Flippen Out, a group of trampoline athletes and acrobats who perform exciting stunts.
Stop by this block party for excellent food, plenty of spectacle, and to celebrate the arts outside on a beautiful spring day.
