Love City Brewing Opens Behind Union Transfer
Love City Brewing is opening a Philadelphia area brewpub on Thursday, April 19 at 1023 Hamilton Street in the Spring Arts neighborhood, just behind Union Transfer.
Operated by husband and wife team Kevin & Melissa Walter (Kevin is an alum brewer of Iron Hill Brewing, while his wife, Melissa, is a former therapist), this 9,000 square foot space offers ample seating and pub food alongisde Love City Brewing's signature brews.
The space is industrial yet welcoming, with ivy-strewn walls alongside windows sourced from an old Budweiser brewery, high ceilings, and a beautifully designed space that was originally a factory.
The front of the building has garage-style windows that will open up during warmer months, with a dartboard in the midst of several picnic tables. Head towards the back to tour the expansive brewery, where, alongside pub fare from the space like pretzels and pickles, food trucks will roll in to serve guests — the upcoming lineup includes Baby Blues BBQ (April 19), Meat Wagon (April 20), Paper Mill Food (April 21), and Ole Tapas (April 22).
As for the beer, Love City offers three of its own beers and other local beers and ciders, alongside local spirits from distilleries like Philadelphia Distilling, New Liberty Distillery, and Faber.
Love City always offers a seasonal brew alongside their Love City Lager, Generation Wheat Beer, and Unity IPA.
Their seasonal brews include everything from stouts to session IPAs to saisons, and rotate throughout the year.
The bar will also offer wine and beer cocktails, including Bloody Mary variations made with beer and a sriracha beer cocktail.
While you're visiting, be sure to purchase some of Love City's beers, which are available in cans or growlers.
The brewery is also partnering with local record shops to run their free jukebox, which features records from throughout the 20th century and has everything from Elvis to The Raspberries.
Starting on April 19, you can visit Love City Brewing's first Philadelphia location, in the heart of a bustling, brewery-filled neighborhood in the heart of the city.
