McCrossens Steps It Up
McCrossen's Tavern has recently gone through a number of culinary changes, including a new menu, new drinks, and a new happy hour.
Over the past several months, Lauren Harris (formerly of Tria Fermentation School) has stepped in and worked hard to diversify the selections, all while maintaining the original "neighborhood bar-on-the-corner" atmosphere that McCrossens has been known for.
As Lauren put it, the bar has been "changed overall to a gastropub... it's a corner bar with a heavier focus on food." The menu changes frequently, and I saw items such as grilled baby octopus, and a house-smoked pork sandwich. I was informed that the wings they serve now are the same recipe that McCrossens has always had (they remain a favorite with regulars).
While the food looks delicious, this isn't to say that they've let the alcohol pass them by in terms of quality. Lauren is no stranger to good wine, and she has changed up their entire wine menu. Wine tastings are held on a monthly basis, where customers can enjoy four wines, four cheeses, and four paired dishes for $32. They're even participating in the Summer of Riesling by offering 3 different Rieslings throughout the Summer.
As for Happy Hour, each day they select one beer, one appetizer, one wine and one cocktail, and price it at $3/$4/$5/$6 respectively.
Make sure to check out the delicious changes at this cozy little bar!
