New Media Unplugged with Technically Philly & two.one.five Magazine, 9/6
If you have any interest in or thoughts about online media, news or publishing, join us on Tuesday evening. Vitamin Water is sponsoring New Media Unplugged, a free workshop and gathering at the historic Sigma Sound Studios (212 N. Race St.), and there will be beer! Tech-hub Technically Philly and culture magazine two.one.five arranged the event, which they describe as “a slightly more evolved blogger meetup.” Drink Philly founder and president Adam Schmidt will be one of several independent publishers from around the city giving brief talks about how they built their websites and what’s in store for the future.
Doors open at 6 PM, when participants will give short, informal presentations. Expect to hear from the enigmatic Mr. Fox of NakedPhilly, Eric Smith of Geekadelphia (both of whom you might remember from our recent win at the Philly Geek Awards), Chris Wink from Philly Tech Week and David Raible from Generocity.org, among others. After the talks, stay for a meet-and-greet that runs through 9 PM, with complimentary libations. While there’s no cost, organizers want to make sure they don’t run out of drinks, so if you’re planning to stop by, RSVP on Facebook here.
