Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant's $1 Birthday Celebration
This week, gastropub Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant is celebrating one whole year of serving up craft brews and artisan eats to more refined members of the Old City crowd, and they’re doing it in signature low price/high value style. Each night from September 12–18, PBR is putting one draft and one menu item on special for just a buck. The deal is available from 5–8 PM (except Thursday’s bread pudding, which is offered at 8 PM instead, after a private birthday bash), and dovetails with their regular 5–7 PM happy hour featuring $2 eight-oz. pours.
PBR’s food is not your usual bar grub, so expect great things from the $1 birthday bites, which include oysters, burgers and more. Foobooz reports that chef Jordan “Red” Sauter (the former chef de cuisine at Italian BYO Modo Mio) has been growing a secret stash of figs in Northeast Philly, so stop in early on Saturday if you want to try these uncommon treats. The $1 beers are nothing to sneeze at, either, and include brews from Flying Fish, Ommegang, Yards and other local faves. Check out the whole list of anniversary specials, below.
