Meet the Drink Philly Flugtag Team: Bruce Lewandowski
Meet the Drink Philly Flugtag team. Each week, we have been profiling a different member of our team so you can get to know him and cheer him on. Or just buy him a beer.
Name: Bruce Lewandowski
Flugtag Title: The Wildcard
Bio: Bruce, son of Bruce, hails from Philadelphia and was born 26 Earth years ago. He enjoys reading, writing, beer, animal meat, magnets, ghouls, rock and roll cranked up to 11 and rubber band guns, presumably all at the same time. You can currently find him in class drawing stick figure battles in the creases of his textbooks at Temple University, where he is studying Management Information Systems.
Height: 6'
Weight: 200 lbs.
How did you become involved in this year's Red Bull Flugtag?
Drink Philly founder Adam and I have been friends since our shoes lit up. I also write for the website under the pseudonym "Bruce of Brews." When Adam got the news Red Bull had accepted our application, he could think of only one soul who was man enough to fill the all-important role of "Wildcard" — me.
How did you feel when you found out you were going to be competing in this year's competition?
Juiced. I had the pleasure of accompanying Drink Philly to the first Philadelphia Flugtag two years ago, where 80,000 people were in attendance. If you had told me that two years later I'd be up on stage participating with my good friends, I'd have called shenanigans.
Flugtag is pretty crazy. What is the craziest thing you've ever done up until this point?
I ripped the tag off of a pillow while jaywalking all while playing Nerfgun Russian Roulette. Control yourself ladies.
How do you think the Drink Philly team is going to do?
We actually created something called the HINDENFIRKIN. If the weight of the awesomeness isn't enough to guarantee victory, the combined power of our beards will muscle the judges into picking the obviously right choice.
Are you nervous about jumping off a 30-ft. high pier into the Delaware River?
No, the Delaware is nervous about me.
If you had to choose one, what would be your favorite beer?
That's like choosing which one of my metaphorical children I love the most, or my favorite beard comb. But I've been known to enjoy St. Bernardus Abt 12 or Yard's Love Stout — I drink them from time to time but infrequently enough that they are extra-enjoyable on special occasions.
Fun Fact:
I secretly love salads.
I have been skateboarding the majority of my life and still suck.
Women are intimidated by me because I know so much about giraffes.
