Get those legs limbered up, and exhume your sharpest woolen garbs from their moth-ball vaults, because the Sixth Annual Tweed Ride Philadelphia returns this Saturday, November 9.
The semi-annual rite sends scores of dapper chaps and snappy lasses wending their way through the city’s streets in a fantastically peculiar procession of tweed on two wheels. All you need to do to participate is don your most dashing duds, and show up at the Waterworks at 11 a.m. with your bike.
Departure time is 12 noon, and the route will take riders on a leisurely cruise through Center City, around Rittenhouse Square and on to Washington Square, where everyone will stop for a BYOB — bring your own basket — picnic and some old timey fun.
From there, the ride picks back up, and travels through Old City and Northern Liberties before heading back through town to Rembrandt's for an after party. There drinks will flow, and prizes will be awarded for things like Most Stylish Steed, Most Dapper Chap, and Most Picturesque Picnic Basket.
Though free, donations will be collected for Philabundance. Sponsors include Yards Brewing Company, Art in the Age, and Franklin Fountain.
