Inaugural Philadelphia Bacon and Beer Festival Coming to Hotel Monaco

Bacon and beer: Two tastes that go great together

It’s no secret that the Drink Philly crew subscribes unanimously to the “everything is better with bacon” philosophy. That said, we nearly squealed with joy when we got wind of the 2013 Philadelphia Bacon and Beer Festival

As you can gather from the name, the fest, which is going down at Hotel Monaco on Sunday, December 8, will focus on bacon and beer.

More than a dozen chefs from local restaurants are on board, and will contribute plates with what’s arguably the most prized part of the porker in the leading role. As for the beer part of this bacon blowout, nine area brewers will also be on hand. Participating restaurants include Alla Spina, Pub & Kitchen, The Dandelion, Brauhaus Schmitz, Lemon Hill, and more. Breweries include Victory Brewing Co., Sly Fox Beer, Troegs Brewing Co., Dogfish Head, and others.

Proceeds from all this bacon bacchanalia will benefit MANNA. The event is being organized by @eatboston, former Drink Philly Editor-in-Chief Danya Henninger, and Rolling Barrel Events.

Tickets will run $45 a piece, and go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13. Due to the limited number, it’s almost guaranteed that they will sell out quickly. Similar events in Boston have sold out in as little as five minutes in recent years.
