South Street Spring Fest and Maifest

South Street Spring Fest and Maifest

If there was any doubt as to how you were going to spend the first Saturday in May, doubt no more. The South Street Spring Fest is back with more food, fun, and festivities than before!

On Saturday, May 3, South Street will close down to traffic from 8th Street all the way to Front Street, and will transform into a pedestrian-only springtime haven bursting with local food and drink vendors alongside musicians, artists, crafters, and more. Sample cuisine from local restaurants like Lovash, Hot Diggity, Redwood, The Twisted Tail, and many more. Look for signature dishes, as well as special one-offs for your favorite South Street chefs.

If you’re a fan of German festivities, Brauhaus Schmitz has a treat for you. Along with Spring Fest, the German Maifest is back this year with plenty of German food, beer, and dirndls. There will even be a May Pole with real German dancers! Most food and drinks will be pay-as-you-go, but you can also purchase VIP tickets for Maifest. What’s that include? For $100 you get exclusive access to the VIP Brauer Bund Room with German apps by Brauhaus’s Chef Jeremy Nolen and VIP special release beers, private bathrooms (no porta-potties for you!), a commemorative beer stein, eight beer/food tickets, and other Brauhaus swag. We here at Drink Philly will also be giving away some VIP tickets, so stay tuned!

After you’re filled up with delicious South Street eats and drinks, be sure to check out the entertainment and merchants. Stages will be set up at 5th and South, the 700 block of South, and at the 2nd Street Plaza, as well as eight satellite performance areas. The street will also host over 40 artists and retailers of all kinds so you can shop to your heart’s content. We’ll see you there!
