Yards Brews Up Exclusive Beers for City Tap House, Morgan's Pier and Sons of Ben

The good folks at City Tap House send word today that their new collaboration with Yards Brewing Company, dubbed Just Off Walnut, will go on tap on Friday, May 9 at the Tap House and its siblings Public House, Field House, and Pennsylvania 6.

Yards brewmaster Tim Roberts and Tap House managing partner Andy Farrell worked together to develop the Belgian-style brown ale. It was brewed with a De Koninck yeast strain, which brings a fruity nose and spicy crisp finish to the malt-y and very food friendly brew. It weighs in at 6.5 percent ABV. Yuengling drinkers and IPA nerds will find Just Off Walnut and agreeable whistle-wetter, according to Farrell.

With only about 90 half-barrels of the stuff in existence, the brew is in relatively short supply, so get it while you can. What’s more, 25 cents from each $6 pint sold will be donated to Hold The Door For Others, a New Jersey-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to grow through loss and adversity.

Meanwhile our friends at Foobooz are reporting that Just Off Walnut isn’t the only custom brew Yards is rolling out this summer. The Delaware Avenue-based brewery also recently debuted Petty's Island Nitro Cream Ale, a beer brewed exclusively for riverfront hot spot Morgan’s Pier. And in addition to that, there’s Sons of Ben Rowdy Style Ale, a Belgian-style pale ale brewed for the Philadelphia Union supporters club of the same name. It is available at the brewery and at Sons of Ben partner bars throughout the Philadelphia five county area, New Jersey and Delaware. A portion of proceeds from its sale benefit the William Trippley Charity, which works on behalf of at-risk youth.
