Michael Solomonov's Authentic Hummusiya Dizengoff Debuts on Mon., Aug. 11

With their latest, Dizengoff, an authentic Israeli hummusiya scheduled to make its debut on Monday, August 11 at 10:30 AM, the CookNSolo restaurant empire continues its rapid expansion.

CookNSolo Restaurants owners Steven Cook and Michael Solomonov, who’ve brought Zahav, Percy Street Barbecue and Federal Donuts to the Philadelphia dining scene, will open Dizengoff at 1625 Sansom Street, directly across from their coffee-doughnuts-and-fried-chicken enterprise's second location. It will serve housemade hummus, freshly-baked pita and seasonal salatim from 10:30 AM to 8 PM seven days a week.

Named after Tel Aviv's main thoroughfare, the 25-seater will offer diners four different types of hummus on its opening menu. The dishes were developed by Solomonov and Zahav vet Emily Seaman. Each plate will include two pitot (plural for pita), two seasonal salatim and Israeli pickles.

The opening menu will feature:

Hummus tehina, $9
Soom Foods tehina

Hummus with corn, fenugreek masabacha, $10
whole chickpeas and lemon

Hummus with ground lamb, $11
peas, orange, cinnamon, mint, pistachio

Hummus with matbucha, haminado egg, $10
Moroccan cooked tomato-pepper salad, Sephardic slow-cooked egg

Salatim
Roasted cauliflower with walnut tarator and dill
Zucchini, roasted cherry tomato, pomegranate molasses and sesame seeds

As far as drinks are concerned, Dizengoff will offer frozen minted lemonade Lemonanna ($5), Coke, Diet Coke ($1.50) and San Pellegrino Pompelmo, $2.50. For something with a little more kick, a rotating selection of seasonal craft brews will be available as 12-oz. drafts for $4 each.

Dizengoff will soon be joined by Abe Fisher, a 50-seat restaurant with a full bar that will serve small plates inspired by the Jewish Diaspora. It’s in its final stages of construction and will open adjacent to Dizengoff at 1623 Sansom Street in early September.
