Roll Out the Barrels for the 4th Annual German Society Bierfest, Feb. 21

German food and German beers are at the heart of this festival that is now a February staple in Philadelphia. Bierfest, presented by the German Society of Pennsylvania and Marnie Old, is a celebration of PA’s German heritage and long tradition of brewing Lagers, Bocks and Weizens.

What’s in store for 2015? Live bluegrass, delicious German dishes, fun and games in the Learning Lounge, a homebrew competition and, of course, plenty of local and imported German suds to sample. New this year, venture into the German Society’s Ratskeller tavern for beer and cheese pairings presented by cheese expert, Max McCalman.

The Philly Roller Girls are back again this year. You’ll be able to find them pouring beer, as well as hosting an arm-wrestling competition and the Masskrugstemmen (or Liter Lift). Also back for another year is the Berlin-style BEERlesque.

Look for beer from local breweries like Victory, Sly Fox, Free Will, Barren Hill, Philadelphia Brewing, Yuengling and German brewers like Ayinger, Warsteiner, Sünner, Pinkus and many more. You can find the full list of brewers at phillybierfest.com.

Tickets are available at multiple levels this year. General Admission tickets are $45, and include entrance to the main event from 2–5:30 PM and a tasting glass. VIP packages are available for $60, which includes early admission (1 PM) and a Bierfest mug. VIP Plus packages are on sale for $75, and include everything mentioned in the VIP package in addition to a beer seminar and tasting with Marnie Old at 12 PM.
