Break out the hats and bow ties,
Derby Day is just around the corner. And while we may be a few hundred miles from Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby is a great excuse to get dressed up for a day of good food and great drinks.
The Ebbitt Room in Cape May--located in The Virginia Hotel-- is celebrating Derby Day with an all-afternoon event celebrating America’s No. 1 horse race. For $10, guests gain access to a selection of traditional Derby dishes from Beach Plum Farm, the Cape May farm that supplies all of Cape Resorts with super-fresh produce. Tickets are available at the door and include passed hors d'oeuvres and a $20 dining voucher for The Ebbitt Room, good through the end of May.
Meanwhile, bartenders will be pouring the ultimate Kentucky Derby drink, the muddled Mint Julep. The event culminates around 6:30 PM, when the race is set to begin. The Ebbitt Room will kick off the race in traditional style, with the playing of “My Old Kentucky Home”-- the official song of the Kentucky Derby-- before guests have the chance to watch the race on the giant flat screen.
You can’t guarantee that the horses will run in your favor, but you can guarantee that you’ll be able to watch the race in style, whatever the odds.
