Philly Beer Week Kicks off With a Bang at Opening Tap, May 29

Philly Beer Week Kicks off With a Bang at Opening Tap, May 29

Philly Beer Week is right around the corner. Just how soon is this sudsy 10-day celebration? Opening Tap, PBW's kickoff festival and one of the week’s most popular events, is just over a week away.

Opening Tap is where it all starts. Again happening at the 23rd Street Armory, the festival is expected to host over 40 breweries pouring some of the best craft beer around to celebrate Philly being “America’s Best Beer-Drinking City.” Opening Tap also serves as the debut of PBW’s collaboration beers, Leuven On A Prayer and Brotherly Suds VI. Leuven On A Prayer, a Belgian-style dark farmhouse ale, is this year’s international collaboration. It was brewed by Hof ten Dormaal of Belgium and Free Will Brewing of Perkasie. Brotherly Suds VI is a local collaboration of Earth Bread + Brewery, Flying Fish, Iron Hill Brewery, Nodding Head, Sly Fox, Troegs, Victory, Weyerbacher and Yards.

Tickets for Opening Tap are on sale now. General Admission tickets are $46 per person and include entrance and beer tasting. VIP tickets are available as well for $92 per person and include early entrance (6 PM) and access to the VIP Lounge where exclusive beers will be poured and a delicious buffet will be stationed. All tickets for this celebration are available here.

Doors open at 7 PM for Opening Tap on Friday, May 29. The 23rd Street Armory is located at 22 S 23rd Street. For more information and for a complete list of participating breweries, visit phillybeerweek.org/opening-tap.
