Philadelphia is full of amazing culinary talent. This talent doesn’t only live in the bars and restaurants of the city, but it lives on the streets too. Philly is home to dozens of food trucks, some of which will be competing for your vote on
Saturday, June 13, at the
5th Annual Vendy Awards.
The Vendy Awards has been called the “Oscars of Street Food”. Local food trucks bring their A-game and compete in three categories; Vendy Cup/People’s Choice, Rookie of the Year and Best Dessert. Attendees can sample fare from all competing trucks and cast their vote for their favorites.
This year’s finalists include:
Vendy Cup-
Foolish Waffles, Flying Deutschman, Mom-Mom’s, Butter Truck and The Mixin Bowl
Rookie of the Year-
Philly Fry, SeoulFull Philly, Jerry’s Kitchen, Rigatoni’s Mobile Crab Cakes and Las Olas Food
Best Dessert-
Sweet Lavender, UndrGrnd Donuts, Jimmies Cupcake Co, Luscious Bakery and Pound Cake Heaven
And, of course, you’ll need something to help wash down all that delicious grub. Attendees will enjoy an open bar featuring eight different beers from
Sly Fox, red, white and rose wines from Santa Cristina and sodas from
Grown Up Sodas.
Brian O’Reilly, brewmaster of Sly Fox, will also be at the event as one of the distinguished judges of the day.
The event runs from 1–6 PM, and tickets are available online for $65. Your ticket will include all food and drink for the day. Tickets will also be on sale at the door for $70, cash only. Proceeds from the event benefit The Food Trust and the Philadelphia Mobile Food Association.
