6 Running Clubs That Will Help You Stick to Your New Year's Resolution and Cater to Your Love of Beer

The holidays have come and gone and it’s do or die time for those new year’s resolutions to get healthier. Have you used that new gym membership yet? How long are you really going to keep up with your new diet? It’s much easier to keep a fun resolution, so why not make getting healthy fun by checking out one of these running clubs.
 
All of these clubs welcome runners, or walkers, of all paces and abilities with the overall goal of adding a little exercise to your weekly routine in a fun, friendly way. The best part? These clubs also believe in the hydrating power of beer and conclude their runs with a brew or two. Happy trails!
 
If you live in the Point Breeze neighborhood, meet up with this local beer running club on Mondays at 6:30 PM at the Sardine Bar. The club averages 3–5 mile routes that usually track back to the Sardine or another Point Breeze bar.
 
If you’re west of the Schuylkill, you can find these runners on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM at 45th and Locust. Each week a new 2, 4, and 6 mile route is mapped with the final destination usually set as Local 44 or Pasqually’s Pizza.
 
One of the most recognizable beer running clubs in the city meets on Thursdays at 7 PM at 2346 E Susquehanna Ave. The Fishtown Beer Runners average 3–5 miles per run with a new tavern destination set each week.
 
Ben Franklin Mob Hash House Harriers
If you’re looking for a more unorthodox beer running club, catch up with this chapter of the Hash House Harriers on Thrusdays at 7:30 PM. Runs usually start and end at a bar and range from 3–4 miles. The only requirements are "sneakers, an intact liver, and the inability to take yourself too serioulsy."
 
This once a month run is held on the Third Thursday of each month at 6 PM. Runners meet at the SE corner of Franklin Square (6th and Race) and run a 4.25 mile route across the Ben Franklin Bridge and back, ending at the Yards Brewery.
 
Looking for some weekend exercise? This H3 chapter meets on Saturdays at 3 PM during the winter and on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM from May through mid-September. This club runs on 4–6 miles trails and, like for the other H3 chapter, a sense of humor is required.
