Philly's First Kitty Cafe Finds a Home in Queen Village

Philly's First Kitty Cafe Finds a Home in Queen Village

We all knew this would happen eventually - Kawaii Kitty Café is set to open in Queen Village at 759 South 4th Street. After other cat cafés have found success in San Francisco, Oakland, and Washington, D.C., Philly is finally getting in on the action.

Permits have been obtained and construction has begun, with an opening date set for sometime in February. Guests will enter through a long hallway where they’ll choose between the coffee bar and the cat room, but there’s a viewing window from the coffee bar into the cat lounge if you still want to take a look.

Customers may pay $5 to enter the cat lounge for some kitty playtime or head to the coffee bar. The café will serve coffee from La Colombe and snacks in the style of Japanese cat cafés, like strawberry and cream sandwiches and banana Nutella sushi. We heard there may even be kitty and wine parties down the road.

If you’re a cat-lover, be sure to check up on the café’s progress on 4th Street, or visit in February to grab a cup of joe and a cuddle.
