Inside Brew: Rum Bar
When Adam Kanter came up with the concept of a tropical oasis in the middle of Philadelphia, where city-dwellers could soothe their souls with well-crafted cocktails, he started with 36 types of rum. Today, Rittenhouse’s Rum Bar carries over 200 varieties, which Kanter and crew mix with housemade shrubs and syrups, infuse with fruits and herbs and dispense to a happy clientele of cane spirit devotees.
The island scene lives on inside the tiki-dressed lounge, which regularly plays host to rum-themed events and cocktail competitions, like October’s DonQ Mojito Olympics.
