While a strange tradition to others, to Philadelphia, the Hammer of Glory signifies the opening of Beer Week.
The Hammer of Glory is a yearly tradition. Early in the morning, it passes from bar to bar, carried by trusted representatives of Philadelphia Beer Week. The handing-off of the Hammer goes for hours on end until at last it arrives at the opening ceremonies for Philadelphia Beer Week.
