The team at New Wave Cafe in Queen Village are serious craft beer fanatics, and have always had a great selection from breweries both local and around the world on their 17 taps and on their 50-plus list of cans or bottles. In an effort to introduce patrons to the wide variety of beer types and styles now available, owners Nate Ross and Sam and Aly Lynagh and their staff are launching an “80 Beers in 80 Days” challenge.
From January 12 through March 31 (80 days), the casual tavern will present over 80 different brews. A different beer will be highlighted each day, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays the featured label will be $1 off all day long. Guests can register for the challenge at any time, and the first male and female drinker to get to the magic number will win their names on a permanent plaque that will go on the wall, as well as gift cards to the bar. There will be prizes for the second and third-place finishers, too, including a spot on the 80 Days Wall of Fame.
