Philadelphia may not be the epitome of urban sophistication, but it is a huge East Coast city, with all the cosmopolitan expectations that go along. For an escape to another side of American culture, join Old City’s Irish Pol at the Hillbilly Hootenanny on Wednesday, August 1.
From 5 PM–close, if you show up dressed like a hillbilly (got your overalls and bandana ready?), you’ll get in for free, and get to enjoy dueling banjos, $3 bourbon shots and $3 beers in a bag, along with free “horse doovers” (you know, those bite-sized, passed eats). Party the night away in country style with a raffle, prizes for best dressed and a cornhole tournament. No word on free hay to chew on, but we’re hopeful.
