Morning Glory Fizz
Esmon describes this as a classic eye-opener, invented by Harry Johnson in the 1880’s, offering that “it’s supposed to cure what might have ailed you the night before.”
The recipe is a variation on another classic: the Silver Fizz, which is essentially comprised of the spirit of your choice shaken with an egg white, sugar, lemon juice a dash of orange bitters and finished with soda water.
For the Morning Glory Fizz, a blended scotch whisky acts as the base. Emmanuelle uses The Famous Grouse, which is spruced up with lemon, lime and a touch of absinthe. It’s the anise flavor of the absinthe that makes this one of Gaal’s favorite classics on the menu. Just like the Silver Fizz, the egg white and soda give it an inch or so of its namesake creamy fizz that smoothly hits your lips upon first sip.
