Oyster House Debuts New Punch Menu
If it weren’t enough that Oyster House has delicious seafood and offers one of the better happy hours in the city, they’re now giving Philadelphians another reason to visit with a new punch menu that was recently unveiled.
The popular Sansom Street restaurant now offers five alcoholic punches featuring different types of liquor ranging from whiskey to tequila and are priced at $9 a piece. One of the standouts is the Gunpowder Punch, which prominently features cardamom-white pepper, mixed with rye whiskey, tea, and garnished with black pepper. It looked daunting at first but was easy to drink while still offering the nice kick that whiskey is known for.
The Garden State Cup is comprised of apple brandy, cognac, pomegranate tea, hibiscus syrup, and lime. It is one of the sweetest of the five but not overwhelmingly so. It actually would have been wonderfully refreshing after one of these recent 90-degree days and the lime does a great job of balancing out what could have easily been too sweet of a cocktail.
Overall, the punches were a great change of pace that should appeal to a broad range of people and give you yet another reason to visit one of our favorite spots on Sansom Street. Below is a listing of all five:
• Mother’s Ruin Punch: gin, fresh grapefruit, cinnamon tea infused vermouth, sparkling wine
• Gunpowder Punch: cardamom-white pepper infused old overholt rye whiskey, citrus & tea
• Foxglove Punch: sauza anejo tequila, grapefruit, basil, brown sugar
• Garden State Cup: laird’s apple brandy, cognac, pomegranate tea, hibiscus syrup, lime
• Point Breeze Punch: Don Q Rum, brandy, citrus peels, black tea, nutmeg
