Saige Cafe, a Coffee Shop and Wine Bar, Is Coming to 21st and Chestnut

About two months ago, we wrote about Mercadito, George Sandoval’s Chicago-based Mexican joint that was supposed to spruce up a new space at 21st and Chestnut — unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Mercadito, but we will be getting Saige Cafe, which has other locations on Temple’s campus and in Toms River, New Jersey.
 

Judging from the newly installed window displays in the Chestnut Street highrise, Saige Cafe will primarily be a “wine and coffee bar,” but will also serve brunch and tapas. Judging from the menu at the Temple location, Saige will serve a respectable breakfast display alongside a full and varied coffee bar, but it appears that the Chestnut Street location will be unique in its wine selection. 

We’ll update as more details become available, but keep an eye on that space to see when Saige Cafe finally opens up.
