New this year to the park is the America’s Garden Capital Maze, which will debut on Friday, November 11 at the park. Wintergarden was designed by Goundswell Design Group, the same people who brought the beautiful Independence Beer Garden and Spruce Street Harbor Park. The maze and garden will be decorated with paintings, topiaries, twinkling lights and more. The centerpiece of the maze will be a winter-themed gazebo where guests who completely the maze can hang out. The winter wonderland is named as an homage to the 32 local gardens from around the Philadelphia area.
Also opening for the season this Friday is the Rothman Ice Rink and Cabin, also conveniently located at Dilworth Park. The cabin will feature seasonal hot cocktails featuring Jim Beam Apple and Effen Blood Orange liquor as well as Sam Adams drafts. Menu items such as poutine and chili will also be served to warm guests up after a long skate. On Wednesday nights the cabin hosts happy hour from 5-7 PM with $5 cocktails, $4 wine and $3 beer.
Saturday, November 19 will be the debut of the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market also located in Dilworth Park (seriously, it's a one-stop shop). This market will feature all local artisans, vendors, and holiday food all from the Philadelphia area. This market is meant to complement the Christmas Village, which features European vendors and food. The village is also located in the general vicinity of all this holiday magic in the courtyard at City Hall and will open for the season on Thanksgiving.
Wintergarden admission is free, and the garden along with the ice skating rink and cabin will be open until February 26. Skating is $3 for children and $5 for adults with a $10 skate rental. Check out the CCD Parks website for additional hours and information.
