Philadelphia Bar Community Remembers Katie Loeb With an Evening of Her Signature Cocktails, January 28
Join the Philadelphia bar community to celebrate bartender Katie Loeb with an evening of her signature cocktails, which will take place on Monday, January 28 from 7 PM - 10 PM at Philadelphia Distilling's tasting room.
On December 8, 2018, the Philadelphia bar community lost a legend — Katie Loeb, one of the pioneers of Philly's craft cocktail scene, passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. Loeb worked all over the city and is responsible for some of its most popular cocktails (her original sangria recipe is still served at Amada to this day), and was most recently behind the bar at Old City's Ardiente. As a memorial, bartenders from across the city will gather to remember Katie through some of her creations, using recipes from her cocktail book, Shake, Stir, Pour.
Many of the bartenders and spirits available for the evening are yet to be determined, but any and all proceeds will go to Loeb's GoFundMe page (which is helping her friends and family pay outstanding costs) as well as portions that will be donated to PAWS.
Whether or not you knew Katie Loeb, a light was dimmed this December, and the cocktail community of Philadelphia will feel her absence for years to come — so make it out on January 28 to celebrate this joyful, generous bar expert's life and legacy.
