Bridget Foy's on South Street Has Been Hit by a Two-Alarm Fire
In the early hours of Wednesday, October 25, a two-alarm fire swept through South Street mainstay Bridget Foy's, leaving the bar and restaurant severely damaged.
More than 100 firefighters came to fight the flames around 1:15 AM on Wednesday morning, which reportedly began in the building's basement. The restaurant, which has been in business since 1978, was closed when the fire started, and the Fire Marshall's Office has opened an investigation into the cause. Three firefighters were injured, two dogs at the nearby pet store Doggie Style died of smoke inhalation, and and displaced eleven people from nearby apartments.
Philly resident Rebecca Scuderi has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help rebuild the restaurant with a goal of $10,00, all of which would be donated to the Foy family.
The South Street Headhouse District has released the following statement:
Here's hoping this South Street favorite can rebuild quickly and make a triumphant return to Headhouse Square.
