Cavanaugh's Headhouse Grand Opening Party With Free Troegs Beer, March 8
The wood-filled, bi-level 18th century building on Second and Lombard on Headhouse Square has been a tavern over for 200 years. Most recently known as the Dark Horse Pub, the bar is getting a new lease on life as Cavanaugh’s Headhouse, and a grand opening party is set for Friday, March 8. Better still, the evening will feature free Troegs beer for those who RSVP below.
The historic decor of the space, which features several dining rooms and bars over two floors, is staying pretty much the same, but new life is coming to the beverage and food selections. The whiskey program has gotten a major upgrade. Over 110 brown liquors are now offered, from Bulleit Rye to Baker’s 7 year to Jameson 18 year to four vintages of Glenfiddich, from 12 to 30 years old.
Elevated gastropub food is what you'll find here. Look for British standbys like huge plates of fish ‘n’ chips and pot pies along with local favorites like a pretzel Reuben and cheesesteak spring rolls.
The experienced management team is transitioning the bar to focus on high-quality beer, whiskey and cocktails, instead of regular sports bar cheapies. However, you can still look for international sports there, since the pub has become a go-to soccer-watching spot, and the roster might even be expanded to include rugby and cricket.
When you join us for the grand opening party on March 8, the high-end drink trend will be obvious — from 9–11 PM, everyone who RSVPs on Eventbrite will be treated to an open bar featuring two of Pennsylvania’s best beers: Troegs Mad Elf and Troegs Perpetual IPA. You’ll also be able to sip on house wine and select cocktails. See you on Friday at Cav’s Headhouse!
