Del Frisco's Philadelphia Hosts Global Release of Penfolds Grange Shiraz
Philadelphia wine lovers are in for an exclusive. Del Frisco's on Chestnut Street is set to preview one of the most anticipated wines of the year — the 2008 Penfolds Grange Shiraz. The vintage recieved a perfect score of 100 from Wine Advocate, which is extremely rare, and will be pouring first here in Philadelphia — even before it's released in its native country of Australia, where the Penfolds winey has been creating distinctive wines since 1884.
On May 1, guests can enjoy a special five-course feast designed by all 10 Del Frisco's head chefs, including Philadelphia’s John Stritzinger, full of the dishes that will highlight the best qualities of the special wine, along with other Penfolds bottles. It's the third course that will go with the 2008 Grange Shiraz — a porcini-dusted beef tenderloin with buttermilk blue cheese and fig melt, grilled fiddle heads and red wine-mint gastrique. Tickets to the 6:30 PM event are $250 per person, not cheap, but this is a once in a lifetime chance to be the first to taste an amazing wine. Oenophiles should make reservations now.
