Sober Celebrities: 7 Famous Philadelphians Who Don't Drink
We’ve mentioned the favorite drinks of Philly celebrities, but on the flip side of the coin, there are a number of Philadelphians who have decided to live sober. Whether just a personal choice or after a battle with addiction, here are seven famous Philadelphians who have removed alcohol from their lives. (We’re fine with that, more for us!)
Louisa May Alcott
Renowned novelist and author of Little Women, Alcott fought for women’s suffrage and against alcohol, a combination of campaigns that let to the Nineteenth Amendment (good) and Prohibition (bad).
Bradley Cooper
After smashing his head against a concrete floor while drunk, the Silver Linings Playbook star decided to get sober. Considering he was 2012’s sexiest man, things seem to be working out.
Steve Morrison
The co-host of the popular Preston & Steve radio show has gone his entire life without ever being drunk, even though the program itself embraces alcohol, and even has a yearly Drunk Day show.
Kat Dennings
This 2 Broke Girls star doesn’t like drinking, and dislikes being around those who do. (Don’t expect a public appearance with Lindsay Lohan any time soon. )
Robert Crumb
LSD shaped this underground artist’s style, but he’s been sober for over 30 years.
John Street
The former Philly mayor grew up as a devout Seventh Day Adventist, which prohibits drinking.
Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada realized she had a problem while lying on a couch drinking two bottles of wine. She quit cold turkey when she married Will Smith.
