Red Owl Tavern Offers Shutdown Drink Specials
The shutdown isn’t making life pleasant for “non-essential” federal government workers, that’s for sure, and though there aren’t too many of those in Philadelphia, there’s another group affected: tourists. Everyone who has made a pilgrimage to see the Liberty Bell or Independence Hall is out of luck, as the icons are run by the National Park Service and have been forced to shutter.
To help all those visitors out — and give locals an extra excuse to stop by — Red Owl Tavern has introduced a set of shutdown drink specials. Swing by the Independence Mall restaurant and bar to sip on $4 drafts of Yards Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale and 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die. Also on special are two $6 cocktails: The Scofflaw (rye, dry vermouth, lemon and grenadine) and The Liberty (applejack, light rum, simple syrup).
Until the government reopens, these deals will be pouring. So look on the bright side, and head over to the Hotel Monaco to take advantage of some discounted drinks.
