Purple is the official color of the anti-domestic violence movement, and on March 27, the WHYY Studio will be filled to the brim with purple. Dish It Up is back with more food, sweets, and a new award!

Dish It Up 2014 is not only a night full of fun, food, and fashion, but it’s also the main fundraising event of the year for Women Against Abuse. Female chefs from renown restaurants like The Pickled Heron, Bridget Foy’s, Brauhhaus Schmitz, and more will compete for the Purple Dish Award, as selected by a panel of local celebrity judges. If sweets are what you’re after, female pastry chefs from Pamcakes, Sweet Freedom Bakery, and Sweet T’s Bakeshop will compete for the People’s Choice Purple Cupcake Award. You’ll also be able to enjoy a signature purple cocktail by Katie Loeb and Nella Genovese, as well as beer by Dock Street Brewery, and coffee from La Colombe.

This year’s event will also feature the new Woman of the Year Award, honoring women leaders who have shown extraordinary support of the movement to end domestic violence in Philly. The inaugural honorees are Chef Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran. Together they have opened seven restaurants and boutiques along 13th Street and have helped build a safe, trendy, Midtown Village.

So come strut your stuff on the purple carpet while enjoying all the purple eats and sweets you could want. Tickets are available for $95 each or spring for the VIP package which includes two tickets for $500. VIPs will gain access to an exclusive wine bar and charcuterie station in the new Stradley Ronon VIP Lounge.
