Klingon Warnog Boldly Goes Where No Dunkelweizen Has Gone Before

Klingon Warnog Boldly Goes Where No Dunkelweizen Has Gone Before

Whoa! Those phasers won’t be the only thing set on stun when Star Trek nerds get a load of this: Indiana’s Tin Man Brewing has a new Klingon — yes, those Klingons — inspired beer that it’s about to launch.

Taking its name from the extraterrestrial firewater preferred by the enduring sci-fi franchise’s swarthy, horseshoe crab-faced humanoid warrior species, the beer, Klingon Warnog, was brewed in conjunction with Canada’s Federation of Beer, which already produces Vulcan Ale.

But unlike that Spock grog, which is only available in the Great White North, the Warnog will be available all over the US. All you’ll have to do is beam up to your favorite bar or beer store to get a taste of it.

Though we’ll never really know what genuine Warnog tastes like, this out-of-this-world beer was brewed in the tradition of Dunkelweizen using Munich, wheat and caramel malts, as well as an addition of rye on the grain bill, according to StarTrek.com. We’re pretty sure that its sweet malt character and hints of banana and clove will be far more palatable for human consumption than anything Worf and Gowron would belly up for at five o’clock. It’s expected to begin shipping in the coming months.
