Popping Bottles Prompts PLCB to Issue Consumer Alert
Something tells us this is not what Kanye, Usher or Lil' Wayne have in mind when rapping about popping bottles. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today issued a warning about bottles of Indigenous Selections Prosecco Brut 2013 and their propensity to spontaneously blow up.
Seems some bottles of the bubbly, which is on the Chairman’s Selection list, have been popping all on their own while resting on shelves at the state’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.
So far there are no reports of injuries, but PLCB is urging consumers get rid of any bottles of the stuff immediately. Due to the risk of explosion — and ensuing shower of glass shards that will most likely cause injury — the booze board said bottles should be disposed of rather than returned to the point of purchase. Refunds are available, provided that there’s an original receipt.
Questions and concerns should be directed to the PLCB at 1-800-272-7522 or email lbconsumer@pa.gov.
