New Zealand's Decibel Wines Debuting Three New Varietals at McCrossen's Tavern, Thurs., Aug. 7
Daniel Brennan, former Philadelphian and chip off the old McCrossen’s Tavern block, returns home on Thursday, August 7 for the Official US Premiere of his Decibel Wines lineup. Brennan left his hitch at McCrossen’s and moved to New Zealand to pursue a life as a winemaker there. He launched Decibel in 2009.
Though Decibel’s Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec are already available at McCrossen’s, as well as elsewhere here and throughout the United States, this premiere party will see the debut of three new varietals. Each will be available by the glass and bottle. For their big reveal, McCrossen’s chef Eric Mushrush will offer guests a handful of tasty pairings that will be available a la carte.
Decibel Wines making their first public appearances are Amplified, a vibrant, young wine made from a blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, and two Pinot Noir vintages from 2011 and 2013.
Chef Mushrush’s menu will include:
Duck Breast-cherry jus, herbed salad, paired with both Decibel Pinot Noir vintages, 2011 & 2013
Smoked Tomato Tartare-fresh basil, olive oil cracker, paired with Decibel's 2011 Malbec
Scallops-roasted tomatillo sauce, toasted pepita seeds, paired with Decibel's 2013 Sauvignon Blanc
Shrimp Ceviche-avo mouse, radish assortment, paired with Decibel's 2014 Amplified
Along with the new Decibel Wines and corresponding bites from the kitchen, Brennan will be on hand throughout the evening to talk about his wines, how he got into the winemaking business and life in New Zealand. The fun starts at 7 PM.
